Inside Angry Apple Tattoo Studio in Bracknell

Hello

Welcome to Angry Apple Tattoo Studio

Welcome to the Angry Apple private Tattoo Studio, open since the end of lockdown 2020 and slightly unexpected.

The Angry Apple Tattoo Studio is just me, Paul Hughes. Some people know me as Puggsy, some as Nifty, however you know or don't know me, here I am.

About Me

I have been tattooing since 2008/9. I started at Lucky Star Tattoos in Bracknell, then in 2010 moved to Dunstable and opened Niftys Tattoo Studio. At the end of 2019 I left Niftys Tattoo Studio in the good hands of my friend Dani and arrived back in Bracknell.

After working with my friends at Inkfusion for a few months, a small one-man studio became available during lockdown and it felt like the perfect place to settle into my new/old surroundings in Bracknell.

Styles

I love doing black and grey and colour work. Favourite styles include portraits, abstract work and illustrative characters. What I enjoy most about being an artist is giving clients what they want, while always trying to take it to the next level. My professional background is in Design and Photography but tattooing bought me back to what I love, Art!

Please take a look around. If my work suits what you are looking for, drop me a WhatsApp message.

Aftercare

Looking After Your New Tattoo

Traditional Aftercare

Do not walk out of the studio and immediately take off the covering. Your tattoo has been covered to protect it from airborne bacteria.

  • Leave the covering on for at least two hours.
  • Wash gently with warm water and mild unscented antibacterial or antimicrobial soap.
  • Use clean hands only. Do not use a sponge.
  • Pat dry with a clean towel or paper towel.
  • Allow it to dry and settle, then apply a light layer of aftercare.
  • Continue aftercare for around 3 to 4 weeks.

Tattoo Film Aftercare

If tattoo film is used, leave the first layer on for 24 hours. After removing it, wash the tattoo gently, let it air dry naturally, then apply the next piece of film given to you by your artist.

Leave the second piece on for 4 to 5 days. After that, remove it carefully, easiest is to lift a corner then pull the film away from the tattoo, then treat the tattoo like normal using recommended aftercare or a moisturiser such as cocoa butter.

Avoid during healing: swimming pools, saunas, sun beds, the sea and soaking in the bath. Do not pick or scratch scabs or peeling skin. If you are unsure at any time, contact the studio.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does tattooing hurt?

Yes, but generally not as much as people like to think. Everyone is different. Many people find their limit is around 2 to 3 hours, though some can sit longer.

How do I decide on a tattoo design?

A good tattoo artist can turn your idea into artwork, but you need the initial idea. Research styles, subjects and artwork you like before getting in touch.

How long will my tattoo take?

Every tattoo is different. Style, detail, size and placement all affect the time needed. The golden rule is do not rush it.

How much will it cost?

Tattoos can be priced by the piece or by the session. A set piece or one-session tattoo can have a set price. Session rate starts at £90 per hour and the minimum charge is £60.

How do I prepare for my tattoo session?

Get a good night's sleep, eat before your appointment and consider bringing a sugary drink. Do not drink alcohol or smoke cannabis before your tattoo.

How long do I leave cling film on?

Cling film should usually be left on for 1 to 2 hours. Your new tattoo is a wound, so keeping it protected at first matters.

Can I use numbing cream?

Yes, but there is no guarantee how long it will last. When it wears off, the pain can feel worse. It can also make the skin a little puffy and more difficult to work with.
